Harvestfest is the PTA's biggest event of the year and it requires a lot of coordination, volunteers, and donations. We welcome the entire school community (400+ students and their families!) into the building to participate in various fun activities staged throughout the school. The event and all activities for kids are entirely free. We host a raffle, silent auction, and Scholastic book fair during the event to fundraise for the PTA. Below, find information about how you can make a tax-deductible donation to support this great event!

The PTA is a tax-exempt organization, which means that you should not pay taxes on your purchases, and we are not allowed to reimburse tax if you spend it. Our Tax ID number is 117368, and you can show our tax exempt form (https://drive.google.com/file/d/18Oh3xwNaU4J9Z5wcKjzbLA0YEPrl3lAT/view?usp=sharing) to document our tax exempt status. Grocery items in NYS are already tax exempt.
This is a community fundraiser and we need donations to make it a success. Here are some ideas of items that you could donate - creativity is encouraged!
Teachers/Staff: Kids will use their raffle tickets to win one-on-one time with their favorite teachers and staff (YOU!). Offer a lunch date at Mr. Bumbles, a sewing or knitting lesson, a mountain bike ride, a baking session, Stewart’s ice cream and a walk around the block after school, etc.
A gift certificate that you were given but probably won't use
Homemade items (ex: knit items, holiday crafts)
A skill and/or donation of time (ex: 1 hour bagging leaves, pet sitting, 2 hours of handyman tasks, 2 hours house cleaning/organizing, an oil change, a homemade meal)
Now is a great time to re-gift that item you know you won't use
Put together a "basket" of themed items to donate (ex: lotions and soaps for the bathroom)
Donate an item or gift certificate from your business or a friend's business (donations are all tax deductible).
Donate a baked item. Store-bought and homemade goods are both great. They need to be packaged/wrapped, include a list of ingredients, and we do not have a refrigerator/freezer for storage. Any homemade baked goods are for consumption AFTER Harvest Festival, not during.
Any contribution of $100 or more will automatically receive a thank you letter suitable for your taxes at the email address provided during payment, and if you'd like a letter to acknowledge a contribution smaller than that, send an email to newscotlandpta@gmail.com
Use this link to donate online now or during Harvest Festival. Funds contributed online are subject to a fee of 3.95% of the donation plus $0.59 per transaction. Cash and check donations are also accepted in person with no fees.
You can also donate with cash or check. Bring it to Harvest Festival, a PTA meeting, any PTA event, or send it in with your child in a clearly labeled envelope.
There are other ways to financially support the PTA - see the "Donate" tab.
We're proud of how we spend our funds, and we put thoughtful effort into ensuring that all of our expenses are aligned with our guiding principles. Specific updates about PTA finances are given at our monthly meetings, and you can find more details about the past year and our plans for this coming year on the "Donate" tab.
