Getting Involved
Right now (Spring 2024), the PTA's biggest need is to add board members for the 2024-2025 school year. Join us virtually April 24th at 6pm to learn more! Visit www.google.com/meet and enter the code: ukj-ahap-prb
What positions need to be filled? President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Our Board has typically operated as a team; we all share the work, regardless of position. Treasurer is the only role that has a specific set of responsibilities.
What does the PTA Board do?
Plan and host monthly meetings.
Plan and host events throughout the year, like Harvest Fest and Faculty and Staff appreciation luncheon.
Coordinate fundraisers to fund field trips and student enrichment.
Support family volunteers when they coordinate and host events (Craft Night, Walk and Roll).
What is the time commitment?
1-2 hours/month preparing for & attending meetings
2-10 hours/month when planning events. This time commitment is flexible and depends on the board member's availability and interest.
What does it take to be a Board member?
1.Commitment
2.Flexibility
3.Teamwork
What opportunities are available for volunteers? We need help doing whatever you are good at and whatever you have time for. We'd love to see you at PTA meetings if you're available. If you're willing to take "point" on one event or fundraiser in a school year, that is extremely helpful. If you are willing to sign up for a one or two hour shift during a longer event, that's great too. If you've got connections with a business that could make a donation for the Harvest Festival Raffle & Silent Auction, then we'd love to hear from you.
What if I'm not a member of the PTA? There is no need to be an official member to be an active part of this organization. As the caregiver to a child at this school, you are welcome to join any of our meetings, bring your kids to any events, volunteer your time, volunteer your skills, or volunteer your money. Attendance is always free for any PTA-sponsored event. We are an official PTA only for tax and legal purposes. We need 25 members to be considered an active PTA. You can join the PTA officially: $5 if paid in cash or check (bring this form to a PTA meeting) or $5.68 if paid online.
How do I get involved? You can come to any of our monthly meetings, follow us on facebook, or email us. We also send out periodic requests via flyer (check your child's backpack), email (we use the School Messenger system that the school system uses), remind, and with the Announcements on this site.
How can I learn more? In addition to everything already listed above on this page, we also send home (approximately, during the school year) monthly flyers. Current events are posted on the door at the front of the school, and announcements are often posted on the digital display in front of the school. We regularly send email communication through school messenger & remind. If you don't get emails from the school, you can find more information to do that here: albanyschools.org/communications/school-messenger-community. To subscribe to the PTA's remind account, you can text: @h7dbk4 to 81010 or visit: https://www.remind.com/join/h7dbk4).
